PipelineSuite (now PreconSuite) alternative: a different tool for a different job

PipelineSuite (now PreconSuite) handles bid solicitation and leveling. CrestBid tracks the bids you're chasing. An honest guide to which job you actually need done.

Competitor details checked October 2026 against each vendor's public website. Plans change; check the vendor's site for current details.

If you're comparing PipelineSuite, now rebranded as PreconSuite, with CrestBid, the most useful thing we can tell you is that they mostly do different jobs. PipelineSuite announced the new name in 2024; the company has offered bid software since 2002.

What PreconSuite is for

PreconSuite is a bid solicitation and bid management platform. Its core strength is the outbound side of bidding: sending invitations to bid and addendum notices to subcontractors, building bidder lists, prequalifying vendors with custom forms and approval workflows, and leveling incoming sub quotes side by side with plug numbers and overrides. Subs can open plans in the GC's private planroom without registering. PreconSuite also offers a subcontractor directory and two-way integrations with Procore and HCSS. If you're a general contractor whose main pain is soliciting subs and comparing their proposals, that's exactly what PreconSuite is built to do, and CrestBid does not do it.

What PreconSuite offers subcontractors

PreconSuite also has a subcontractor side. Subs can search project leads, list their company in its directory for free, and track the bid invitations they receive on a shared bid calendar. Forwarded invitations fill in automatically. If you're a sub and your main need is gathering incoming invitations in one place, that feature is worth a look.

What CrestBid is for

CrestBid tracks the bids your team is chasing. It's the pipeline for your own pursuits: an opportunities board, bid stages, due dates, documents and addenda on each bid, follow-ups, and analytics on what you win. It answers where does every bid we're pursuing stand, not which subs should I invite.

They can be complementary

For the most part these tools solve different problems. A GC could solicit and level sub bids in one tool while tracking its own pursuit pipeline in another. If what's actually breaking is that bids fall through the cracks and no one can see where every pursuit stands, that's the CrestBid job.

What PreconSuite costs

PreconSuite publishes plan pricing. As of October 2026 its pricing page lists Basic, Pro, and Premium plans "starting at" $150, $400, and $800 per month, with footnoted conditions. The Enterprise plan, for multi-office firms or 25+ users, is priced on request. It also offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Check the page for user limits and add-ons.

Who each tool fits

PreconSuite fits general contractors and owners who send invitations to bid, prequalify subs, and level bids, and subs who want incoming invitations on one calendar.

CrestBid fits teams that want one system of record for their own pursuits, with stages, due dates, documents, addenda, and win analytics on every bid.

How to choose

Ask which direction your bids flow. If you send invitations and level what comes back, that's PreconSuite's core. If you're pursuing work and need to see where every bid stands, that's CrestBid's job. Some GCs do both and use both.
