CrestBid vs JobTread

JobTread is all-in-one software for running construction jobs. CrestBid is built for subs who win work by bidding to GCs.

JobTread and CrestBid solve different problems. JobTread is all-in-one software for running jobs. CrestBid is for subcontractors who get work by bidding to general contractors.

Where JobTread fits best

JobTread describes itself as "The New Standard for Managing Construction Projects." Its site says it's for home builders, remodelers, commercial contractors, specialty contractors and others. It includes estimating, takeoff, proposals, CRM and lead management, contracts and eSignatures, job costing, change orders, purchase and work orders, customer invoices, online payments, customer and sub/vendor portals, tasks and scheduling, and time tracking, plus a QuickBooks Online integration. Pricing is $199 per month billed monthly or $159 per month billed annually, with the first internal user included and additional users priced by tier. There's no contract and no setup fee. JobTread says it doesn't offer a free trial; instead, monthly plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. It's a natural fit when you want one system to run the whole job, from lead through final invoice.

What CrestBid is built for

CrestBid is built around the GC bid cycle: invites from many GCs and bid sites in one Bid Inbox, one project with every bidding GC, GC scorecards with your hit rate by GC, Go/No-Go, and branded proposals with inclusions, exclusions and your SOQ. Coming soon: a fit score on every invite in the Bid Inbox, lien waivers, pay apps with retainage, and QuickBooks Online.

Using them together

Some subs could use both: CrestBid to win work from GCs, and a job-management tool once the job starts. If most of your work is sold directly to owners rather than bid to GCs, a single job-management system like JobTread may be the simpler choice.

Questions subs ask us

Isn't CrestBid just another fee?

Pro is $49 per user per month, and the Free plan (2 users, 50 open opportunities) costs nothing. The 14-day Pro trial doesn't need a credit card, and when it ends you drop to the Free plan unless you choose to pay. For most subs, CrestBid replaces the giant Excel sheet and the Outlook follow-up flags, not the platforms your GCs use.

Would it mean more data entry?

Invites come in by forwarding the emails you already get, so nobody retypes the project, the GC and the bid date. Your existing bid log comes in with one spreadsheet import. CrestBid doesn't log in to any GC's portal; it works from the invite emails you forward and the files you import.

Does CrestBid use AI to price my bids?

No. CrestBid doesn't do takeoff and doesn't price your work; you set every number. The Bid Inbox reads each invite email to fill in the job details, and you check it before it goes on your board.
